Locker Management

So how many people have heard that there is a competing locker management system out there? If you have you may be wondering what the difference is. Well I haven't seen the other version, but what I understand is that it's a separate application. PDS' Locker Management is embedded in PowerSchool and is always kept in sync with the locker and the student. There is no import process after the fact.

Feel free to compare the options out there. We will continue to make solutions that work for many districts that we distribute free of charge.

Your fellow PowerSchool users/customizers,

How do I add more columns to the quick lookup screen

Do make this change you'll need to edit only 1 page and the effect will be felt on the admin, teacher and parent/student pages. Here's what to do:

  • Create a custom version of the page /admin/tech/gradedisplaysetup/home.html. If you do not know how to do custom pages please search for customization basics on this site.
  • Find the row that reads ~[duplicaterow;6;xx;count]. Change the 6 to a 8.

THE FUNCTION DOES NOT WORK FOR MORE THAN 9 ROWS, PLEASE BE AWARE ENTERING 12 WILL NOT CREATE 12 ROWS

Future user group conferences

Now that the summer conference season is behind us it is time to look to the future at what can be and/or should be done. PDS believe that the power of PowerSchool is the users and the ability to share information, fixes, solutions and customizations. As such we think the user conference format is great and should be encouraged. PDS will continue to support the efforts of PSUG-MI and PSUG-NorthEast and would like to see what people think about some other possible conferences. Here are some ideas we already have that seem to have support.

Another Great Conference!

Thanks to the folks at PSUG-NE for another great conference. Bob, Marcia, and the rest of the committee and workers did a great job. Thanks too to the vendors who helped keep the costs down and thanks to everyone who attended! It was great to see people we had seen last year as well as meet new people.

PDS would also like to congratulate those who won trips to the fall PSUG-MI conference and the national conference in July 2011. PDS will be picking up the air fare for the two lucky winners.

All Enrollment Tabs V 1.1

Having one spot for all the sections a student has ever been enrolled in is great, but after a few years that list gets really long. Especially if you schedule students in more than just homeroom each year. All enrollments tabs is a edit of the existing all enrollments page combined with the tabs feature of the reports page.

2011 National PSUG Information Exchange & Vendor Expo

Hi all

Just wanted to let all of you that utilize this great site at PDS that we will be formally announcing the 2011 National PSUG Information Exchange & Vendor Expo taking place July 18-21 in fabulous Las Vegas, NV on Thursday.  We will officially be kicking off our new web site for the Michigan PSUG (psugmi.com) this Thursday and we will be announcing the national event to the various PSUGs at that time but we wanted to post the info on PDS's site first!

What next grade/school do I set for Pre-Enrolled students?

Good question. Most of the confusion comes to play when you have a pre-enrolled student. The answer to this is simple. If the student is being enrolled before the End of Year (EOY), the next grade will be the same as the grade entering the school for next year (see Ex #1). If the student is coming in after the End of Year process, next grade will be (current grade +1), see Ex #2. Its that simple.

PDS Locker Management System

The PDS Locker Management System now has a web site with more information about the system, including some screenshots at http://www.powerdatasolutions.org/lockers/index.html   You may have seen postings about the system on PowerSource or PSUG, or a demo of it at the PSUG-MI Summer Academy, and the new web site gives you a chance to learn more about it, or if you have seen it, a site to show others at your school screenshots of what you saw..
