About:
The Custom Reports Bundle is a collection of custom html reports and dashboards for PowerSchool. The content in this bundle has been contributed by several members of the PowerSchool customization community. The bundle also includes the Custom SQL Reports customization created by Dean Dahlvang.

Features:
The 3.x release of the Custom Reports Bundle has many great new features.

  • New PS7 compatible layout on all reports
  • Report data is retrieved with AJAX. No more page refreshes to get results.
  • Most reports are now printable and sortable
  • Some reports are exportable to PDF and CSV
  • Performance improvements to underlying report queries.
  • Improved UI for report parameters

Known Issues:
Several reports are still undergoing a transition to the new layout. As a result some are not working.
Broken Reports

  • Schedule Course Demographics (/admin/reports/schedule/coursedemographics.html)
  • Sections with no room Assigned(/admin/reports/schedule/SectionnoRoom.html)
  • NY State Reports

Install Instructions - Custom Page Management:

To upload an entire zip you’ll have to be on PowerSchool 7. Then the steps are as follows:

Switch to District Office.
Use one of the 2 methods below to get to the import/export screen. I would click the export button on the screen listed below to make a backup of your current customizations so you have a backup copy.
A. PS Administrator->Custom Pages->Import/Export
B. District->Localization Administration->Import/Export Customizations
Export the current customizations as a backup.
After you have done that, click browse and select the PDS (or other customization) zip and then click import.

NOTE - The following steps will need to be done if using CPM, because of a bug in PowerSchool, to enable all the bundle features.
1. In CPM navigate to \scripts\tabletools\ click Add then Create Folder with the name swf, if it doesn't already exist.
2. Upload copy_cvs_xls_pdf.swf and copy_cvs_xls.swf from the \scripts\tabletools\swf folder from the unzipped download.
3. navigate to \images\css\theme\crm-css\ click Add then Create Folder with the name images, if it doesn't already exist.
4. Upload all the files from the \images\css\theme\crm-css\images folder from the unzipped download.

Install Instructions - Custom Webroot:
Unzip the downloaded file and place the included files in the same folder structure that exists in the zip in your data\custom\webroot folder.

While the Reports customization is working, for some reason the only output choice that works for the different reports is print. Any ideas on what is causing this to happen?

Thanks.

If you are using CPM there are additional files that need to be uploaded individually due to a bug in PowerSchool. Under the install instructions there is a Note section. After uploading the swf files you should be able to perform the exports.

I've uploaded the files outlines in the Note section of the instructions a couple of times. So far no effect. The folder structure looks correct, I can see the graphics displayed in CPM (other than the swf files), and everything looks correct. Its like something pivotal is missing still. Yet, the reports appear to function in every way other than the export functions.

I've tried with Safari, Firefox, and Explorer 8. Same results on both Mac and PC. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

From what I can tell /scripts/tabletools/swf/copy_cvs_xls_pdf.swf does not exist on your system.

Hello Team,

Per my earlier posts, I continue to have trouble with the export buttons on the custom reports bundle. The reports themselves seem to work however none of the export buttons work. Note the screen shot from PS Administrator CPM:

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B41fDGJYqiwMVHFfTXNTNVEzU2c

It seems to me these files are in the correct location. And note that everything else seems to be working correctly, although it does take a while to load the custom reports screen after clicking on the custom reports tab.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. This is a great customization, but this issue makes it problematic.

Thanks.

- Sez

Bruce thanks for posting the image. I see your issue. You have the swf folder inside the css folder which is a folder too deep. So you have /scripts/tabletools/css/swf/copy_cvs_xls_pdf.swf when it should be /scripts/tabletools/swf/copy_cvs_xls_pdf.swf

Thanks so much for hanging in there on this. That absolutely solved the problem.

Thank you.

The report bundle does not include any Report Engine reports. You’re looking for a RE report that Matt F made. You can find a new version here.

http://freundconsulting.net/downloads/viewcategory/4-ps-7-reporting-engi...

Having trouble with this report not saving the text in the prefs record. I can delete the record, and it is recreated. However, the text never makes it. Ideas for troubleshooting?

We did EOY rollover for this year, I want to install CRB to begin playing with it over the summer - we've not used them before. Since we're hosted, PS upgraded us to 7.2.0.1xxxxx. You say there are a few issues with 7.2.0.1 and the CRB, should I wait to install them until you get some of the issues updated or go ahead and install and disable some of the pages?

Dr Dunn
Maranatha Academy

There are no issues with CRB and 7.2.0.1 that I'm aware of. There are other customization on PDS that I mention on the front page that might have issues but CRB is not one of them,

Thanks Brian, we loaded the CRB, works great, now just trying out each of the reports to see what they do. I want to load the EPP, again want to make sure there aren't any conflicts at this time that I should delay loading it. We've turned off parent access for the summer. We are going to turn on SSO and EPP then roll out a letter to the parents with all of the changes - should be a fun first few weeks of school...

Dr Dunn
Maranatha Academy

There is no conflict between EPP and CRB.

Thanks. I installed the zip file thru CPM then went to upload the images - want to make sure I'm ok. couple of questions: 1) You have .png files in the "guardian" folder in EPP so we need to upload to the "guardian" folder and not in the "guardian\images" folder - correct? Is there a list of which files to make sure we upload manually, or is it just the image files?
2) in the install guide you say we need to initialize the "allow parents enter demo update" field - I don't see the "Parent Demographic Change" screen in custom screens of a student - what am I missing?

Dr Dunn
Maranatha Academy

Sorry - I just was not sure where to post this comment - we currently use an object report for our grade 11 and 12 students. . All of the comments are listed at the bottom with a letter code to correspond to the individual comment. Our teaches will choose the letter that corresponds to the comment and the letter will appear on the report card beside the corresponding course. We would like to be able to choose only the comment code that applies to each individual student. Does anyone have a report card or has used a report card like this and/or do you know how to make this happen? Thank you.

Marie Prescott

I would post this on PowerSource or PSUG.

Hi Brian - thanks - I have posted it on powersource and PSUG Asia a few days ago. Hopefully, will receive a response.

I have version 3.3.2.1 installed and want to go to 3.4.2. Will it work if I install 3.4.2 directly or do I need to go back and install 3.4.1 and 3.4.1a patch first?
Thanks to all who have contributed to the bundle!! This puts really nice customizations in our hands that I would never be able to do on my own.

You can install 3.4.2 on top of any existing version. The updates are all inclusive unless otherwise indicated.

Where is this report located? Thanks!!!

It is in the Custom Reports Bundle on the Schedule tab (near the bottom)

There is an option on the parent portal to hide future schedules. When I hid them last year, the schedule inadvertently showed up under attendance once we hit July1 and the schedules were committed. There is now a tab form on the portal that has each years grades and I'm afraid that the new schedule will appear there. Is there anyway to complete hide any references to the new year's schedule?

Once you perform the commit/eoy the future schedule is no longer future it's current. You would need to disable all the appropriate screens using the Enhanced Parent Portal. In the future please post under the correct customization.

Great report - I have used this report many times looking at our term percentages. Is there a way to select all sections at one time rather than one by one - what am I missing? Also - looking at the Y1, code where our final marks are stored, no information is displayed. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Marie Prescott

The report pulls the assignments and scores from the Gradebook (PGFinalGrade) using the final grade setup. It does not use StoredGrades.

Is there a way to easily change it so that it would pull from the stored grades? Specifically - the R4 and Y1 - final grades is what I am looking for. Thank you.

Marie Prescott

The report is designed to look at live grades only. It's intended to show the assignments and scores that a Teacher would see in their Gradebook and that's it.

Thanks, Brian. Just looking for a report that would pull class grades results from the stored grades after each reporting period and thought we might be able to modify this one. I appreciate your help.

Marie Prescott

Great reports....however I need to lock some of them down so that certain security groups do not have access...for example Log reports. I have tried changing the security groups access but it seems like it is all or nothing. Hopefully I have missed a previous post. Thanks!

I installed this today but when I look at the Version #, it is still showing 3.4.0, 3.4.1a, etc. Should any of the reports show 3.4.2?

Thanks.

I just notice in PS6 there is file /admin/dashboards/sso/home.html
is there any similar file for PS 7.. ?

No, the pages were reworked and the dashboard is no longer controlled by a page called home.html within each dashboard folder.

Jason.
so how do we get same page as PS6,in PS7?.. it;s very helpful the file: home.html
., sorry just newbie to PS, and we plan to move to ps7 :)
thanks

You don't need that page anymore. The newest bundle no longer uses that page but gives you the same content.

I download Custom report Bundle 3.4.2 and we use PS 7.2.1 and copy dashboard and report folder into..\\system\server\resources\web_root\admin, but I dont see the one like we have in SP 6.
sorry if I a ask too much.. just newbie to PS..
thanks for help

Hello, I've followed instructions to install the Custom Reports Bundle but am stumped at the very end...
It says to place the included files in the same folder structure - data\custom\webroot ???
I don't see that in Custom Page Management. Can someone help please?

That section is only if you aren't using CPM.

Thank you! Makes sense now!

We are on PowerSchool 7.2 (on an array) and just uploaded the reports bundle through CPM. When we click the "Custom Reports" tab we see "Loading Reports..." with a broken image, below that is "Custom Reports Settings" and then "Links open in new tab (checkbox) OFF Use Dynamic or Static Report Bundle Menu (checkbox) Dynamic+, the formatting on this page seems to be missing, and a javscript error:

We followed the instructions above to upload the swf and image files. We also tried re-uploading the reports bundle to see if that would correct the issue.

We did this last week on our test server (which is not in a array) and it works fine.

Do you have any suggestions?

Any help you could give us would be greatly appreciated.

Did you add the images and scripts folders to your image server?

We added those folders into the Site Structure through CPM. We didn't do anything outside of CPM.

Also, I didn't mention it before but we have a separate report server, FYI.

You need to add the scripts and images folders from the download to your image server.

That did it!! Thank you so much!! We now see our custom SQL reports (which had disappeared) and the other reports bundle pages properly rendered. You are awesome :)

is that true that only Admin group can access Custom report bundle in PS?
how could the other groups can run Custom report Bundle ?

Thanks :)

That is not true. Any user can access the Report Bundle and run reports. Only group 9 users can do specific setup items.

when group 10, click Custom Report, it's said
"Insufficient access privileges to view the requested screen"

Hello I just downloaded the newest version of this I used to be able to see the reports immediately. Did i miss doing something in the set up? This is what it says
Loading Reports...

Custom Report Settings
Links open in new tab: OFF Use Dynamic or Static Report Bundle Menu: Dynamic

Rescan Reports

I tried to click on all the buttons and check boxes to see if this would populate it did not. Sorry I am usually way better at figuring things out but apparently not right now.

Since updating to PS 7.2.1 we have not been able to pass a parameter using %param1%

I am having the same problem. Old reports work but I can't get a new one to pass a paramenter. I'm sorry if I've missed the answer - I have looked!
